As you no doubt remember, immediately after the tragic tsunami of last month, WorldChanging teamed up with Architecture for Humanity (lead by Worldchanger Cameron Sinclair) to raise funds for the reconstruction.

We asked you to help, and help you have. The Architecture for Humanity/ Worldchanging Tsunami Reconstruction Appeal has raised almost $150,000, with pledges of more on the way.

Most of that came from your donations. But we are also grateful to those who have stepped up with larger checks: $10,000 from the AIA, $25,000 from the Boston Society of Architects and $20,000 from the LEF Foundation. Fundraisers have also brought in money with $500 from a DJ set in Detroit, $400 from a drinks night in NYC and $300 from 7th graders selling brownie in Fairfield, NY. Thursday night sees the opening of SPICE. In addition, the Do Something foundation is talking about a major involvement.

When all is said and done, we all may have pulled together over a quarter million dollars for tsunami reconstruction. 100% of that money will go to innovative, sustainable, locally-appropriate reconstruction efforts, most likely in the Kirinda and the outlying villages area of Hambantota District, Sri Lanka.

This is no small feat. We'd like to thank the good folks at AfH for all their hard work, the major donors for their involvement, and all of you for your support and encouragement. You've proven that you are, in fact, a WorldChanging community.

In other words, you rock.
