Brazil has a massive condom shortage - some 500 million more a year are needed. It also has a deforestation problem. Sustainable rubber-tapping - harvesting natural latex from the rainforest - is a prime way of creating an incentive to preserve those forests.
A new factory in Brazil will manufacture condoms for the Brazilian government using local latex. It's a win-win-win: economic development, AIDS prevention, and forest preservation, all at once. Bravo!
