Votewatch is a distributed, collaborative election monitoring effort - a way for people all around the US to work together to ensure that the 2004 is fair and accurate:
"Votewatch deploys teams of citizen volunteers equipped with wireless mobile devices at polling locations, enabling real-time capture and transmission of data. Votewatchs team of statistical experts analyzes patterns in the data and makes their actionable findings public prior to the certification of the election."
Worldchanging buddy Howard Rheingold calls Votewatch the most important political smart mob ever. This is an explicitly American project, but it's worth checking out no matter where you live, and perhaps adopting: if it can help clean up our elections, it's strong stuff.
Visited the link, smartmob has a new look to me - one of the first color schemes that ever made me feel like 'urling ... much prefer to be worldchanging, thank you.
