The Mother of All Elms


The Elm is one of my favorite trees, so I was perhaps inordinately geeked to read this NYT piece on the discovery of the ancestor of the Dutch Elm Disease-resistant Princeton Elms now being bred. Along the way, the piece explores introduced alien species, smart breeding, and colonial graveyards.
