Wiring the Vast Left-Wing Conspiracy

Jon noted it earlier, but you ought to get it while it lasts: the NYT Magazine's piece Wiring the Vast Left-Wing Conspiracy is essential reading for those who want to understand why the new Democratic Party isn't the Party at all, but the host of new thinktanks, blogs, email activist outfits and 527s who are driving this year's electoral activity.

Combine with the Networked Intellectual and Dan Bricklin's observations on Convention Blogging, shake well and serve before the link expires this Sunday.

It's strange and irritating that the blog permalink tool for the NYT simply does not work with Magazine articles.

This was a really thought-provoking article. I read it over a couple days while I rode the subway to work, last week.

It's exciting to think of a big infusion of money coming into progressive doings, of course. And it may be a logical and valid response to the right-wing's success in propagating their memes to fund similar efforts--think tanks, action groups, etc.

I can't be the only one who wonders if this is really a model that unruly-minded progressives can follow, but it will be exciting to find out.

"Me," that's the permalink tool I was referring to. As of a few weeks ago, it still didn't support magazine articles -- but now it does!

Although the NYT link in the entry here is no longer active, the article can still be read at this link.
