Mark Frauenfelder at boingboing notes that Stewart Brand is showing Robert Frank's "Liferaft Earth" film at Fort Mason (SF) on Friday. 'm waiting for someone to write the biography of Stewart Brand. Any WorldChanging readers ready to take that on? [Link]
Alex adds: WorldChanging ally Fred Turner is doing the best work on telling the story of Stewart, Whole Earth and the emergence of the Wired scene. You can watch a video of one of his lectures on the subject here. Maybe he and I will even follow through with our threat to put together a colloquium/ art happening on the whole subject of 70s cultural futurism (working title, "Embassy to the Dolphins," after AntFarm's proposed marine habitat for humans and dolphins to live together).
I like Mark's comment about Brand having the courage to publically change his mind.
In Brand's wonderful _How Buildings Learn_, he reconsiders his advocacy for geodesic domes. Indeed, he really tears into them: They leak, they waste materials, they're difficult to expand or adapt, and they space they enclose isn't especially friendly.
