I can't believe we've never noted this essential piece of 21st Century jargon: the Wexelblat Disaster. A Wexelblat Disaster involves: "a man-made system related to carbon-spewing lifestyle; human technical infrastructure exploited past the limits of its capacity; and additional stresses placed on system by unnatural climate processes," resulting in an eco-catastrophic failure of a modern society's essential systems.
Hurricanes knocking a coal-burning powerplant offline, plunging part of Florida into a blackout? That's pretty much a classic Wexelblat.
