
Thomas Barnett (of The Pentagon's New Map fame) is speaking here at PopTech about the functioning core of globalization and the "non integrating gaps" of places which have more or less fallen off the map (Africa, Central Asia, Indonesia) when measured by connectivity and integration into global systems. The best line thus far: the Chinese communist party is "30% Marxist-Leninist, 70% the Sopranos." Oh, and Barnett's got a blog.

I've been following Barnett since the CSPAN PowerPoint presentation. He has some very interesting things to say but he doesn't listen to other voices as well as he should. Some of his ideas are also are not completely thought out yet.
Yes, what he has got is key but he ain't got all the answers by a long shot and sometimes has the tendency to act as if he does.
