The American Institute of Architects (AIA), its New York Chapter and New York New Visions today announced support for the Architecture for Humanity / Worldchanging reconstruction effort in Sri Lanka and other regions affected by last weeks tsunami.
In addition the AIA has donated $10,000 towards the AFH/Worldchanging Reconstruction Fund and are highlighting their effort on the associations website. Following the lead of national chapter, the AIA New York Chapter and New York New Visions, an organization best known for taking the lead after the 9/11 disaster, is also making a donation for relief efforts and urges its members to also contribute. This brings our current total to $82,500.
Also in Detroit, Les Infants Terribles announced a benefit gig with The Dorkwave taking on Terror at the Opera at the Corktown Tavern. All proceeds will go towards our project - click for details and poster (FYI: The Dorkwave nights were recently named "Best roaming monthly dance party with attitude")
Cheers to Micheal Doyle for organizing the event. And to the AIA Executive Committee, David Downey, Ric Bell (AIA NY) and Ernest Hutton from New York New Vision for the support.
Stay tuned for some major updates from Sri Lanka in the next few days.
