The San Francisco Documentary Film Festival runs from May 12 to May 22. Looks like a great program. I'm especially intrigued by the offerings that combine explorations of nature and culture, like "A Whale of a Tale," which looks like a fresh-eyed investigation of humanity's relationship with whales, and the multifilm program that features "The Birdpeople," which the Village Voice calls "a study of ornithologists in which the observers merge indissolubly with their subjects," preceded by three shorts: "Hush," about high-tech eavesdropping into nature, "Nature's Blueprints," featuring an architect who draws on natural forms in his buildings, and "Chickens in the City," which is about, yep, chickens. In the city.
