Solar Power From Space

Better get the cost of a pound to orbit down.

The actual SPS bits is, really, engineering, not research - we've known how to build SPS since the 70s. The deal killer here is that it costs (average) $10,000 per pound to orbit.

Which is where a space elevator or three might come in handy.
