Report from the Energy Efficiency Charrette

Austin Energy's Energy Efficiency Charrette was held yesterday.

The key thing about this charrette is that it is action oriented. Ten out of fifty five ideas from last year's charrette were implemented by Austin Energy. Furthermore, it was an opportunity for members of the contractor, environmentalist and utility community to get to know one another. We will all see each other again, perhaps on different sides of an issue. Nonetheless, we have built some bridges between us.

Overview and Summary:

In it, we had presentations from John Baker on Austin Energy's strategic view of the forces affecting its business. Furthermore, Esther Matthews presented the details of the Austin Climate Protection Plan. These presentations will be available to the public. As soon as they are published to attendees, I will post them here.

After these presentations, the group broke up into four brainstorming groups: Commercial, Residential, Renewable and Green Building.

These ideas were written on large post-it sheets. Hence, I do not yet have the transcription for your reading pleasure. When I receive the raw list, I will also post it here.
