Originally I thought this gentleman was transporting his chair in order to have something to sit on at the Ottawa Blues Fest. At the time this photo was taken, in the summer of 2007, the Blues Fest was less than less than a block away. Bob Dylan, if memory serves, would be rockin' 'em that evening. Many people were taking folding chairs, and I thought that a wooden chair would be an original solution to the problem. But no: he had just found this at a garage sale, and was transporting it home.

With his permission, I took a picture of both sides of chair, to fully document how the trick was done:
