Mike Thomas

Mike Thomas is a Civil Engineering consultant specializing in urban design, sustainability and project management. Mike has recently moved from Newcastle, Australia to Castlegar, BC, Canada with his wife Robyn, (also a Civil Engineer) and two kids.

Mike has five years experience leading design projects including residential and industrial subdivisions, water and wastewater infrastructure including pump stations reservoirs and treatment plants, electrical switchyards and substations, and waste facilities.

Mike is passionate about sustainability and innovative solutions. Mike has co-authored papers on Oil Sand Tailings Reuse research conducted at the University of Calgary. Robyn and Mike were also involved in the Sustainable Cities review initiated by the Australian House of Representatives in 2003, authoring a paper on Green Roofs for Sustainable Cities.

Living in rural Canada, Mike is given a unique perspective on the issues of environment and sustainability and is hoping to become involved in the local community in the Kootenays region of British Columbia.
