A freelance writer and media relations consultant, Sonia Mendes has worked in Ottawa's technology sector for the past 10 years. Her most recent efforts have raised the profile of the Communications Research Centre Canada (CRC), a federal telecommunications laboratory, within the scientific community in Canada and around the world.
Afflicted by the writing bug at a young age, Sonia moved to Ottawa from her hometown of Edmonton to study her craft. She graduated from Carleton University with a Bachelor of Journalism in 1998.
Currently on maternity leave with her second child, Sonia is always looking for ways to integrate conservation and sustainability with the challenges of everyday, suburban family life. She is currently studying the concept of Natural Infant Hygiene and intends to document her own efforts to implement this diaper-reducing strategy.
