A little over a week ago, I perused the gleaming aisles of Greenmaker, Chicago’s premier source for green building supplies. Located at 2500 North Pulaski, Greenmaker is your all-inclusive destination for an eco-friendly dwelling. This green home store offers products that meet one of their “The Seven Seeds of Sustainability” criteria. This means that products must be energy intelligent, water wise, promote healthy interiors, composed of recycled content, made from renewable resources, produced locally and promotes regional growth or designed with the environment in mind for their entire lifecycle.
Whether you are trying to make your home more efficient and save money this winter or if you just want to paint the baby’s room using paint without volatile organic compounds (VOC’s), this store will help you find what you need. The friendly staff can also assist you in finding products that will help your home or business meet LEED accreditation or achieve an Energy Star rating. I’m happy to report that unlike mega-home retailers, Greenmaker does not intimidate. But with its impressive storehouse, I can’t guarantee that you won’t be giddy with buyer’s delight (sans the ethical guilt.)
