Take a Nocturnal Fruit Forage through the Silverlake area tonight, meeting fellow fruit enthusiasts and partaking in the plentiful harvest that the city offers us.
This forage will be led by Fallen Fruit -- an art-meets-activism project that takes advantage of a California law which makes overhanging fruit public property. Fallen Fruit's put together maps of public fruit in LA neighborhoods, and now plans fruit parks in underutilized areas.
Tonight, you can see Fallen Fruit's work first hand. During the 60-90 minute tour, you'll get to harvest organic produce and scope out the best trees for summer harvest. Fallen Fruit invites all to join in the fruity fun: "Everyone is welcome to bring fruit pickers and bags; walking shoes and flashlights are also good."
Post-tour, meet up at the Machine Project (which we've covered here) at 1200 D North Alvarado Blvd., for tea, fruit, and music by singer Emily Lacy.
Nocturnal Fruit Forage. Thursday, April 19 from 6:30 - 8 pm. Sunset and Griffith Park Blvd in Silverlake, Los Angeles.
