If you have broken, unfixable VCRs that you just can't get to the e-waste facilities during their limited hours, you're not alone. The City of Santa Monica says "It is estimated that up to 75 percent of these outdated electronics are in storage because people don't know what to do with them." That's a lot of garage space taken up by busted VCRs!
So to help clear out your storage -- and save the environment from hazardous contamination -- Santa Monica's holding a free public e-waste recycling event on Saturday, March 17. Just bring your e-waste to the City Yards at 2500 Michigan Ave. between 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
For more information, or to request a special pickup for Santa Monica residents with disabilities, call Solid Waste Management Division at 310.458.8546.
