Starre Vartan

Starre Vartan is a writer who specializes in environmental health, green fashion, health and natural beauty, wildlife issues, and food. She is the founder and editor of Eco Chick, a blog for hip, environmentally conscious young women.

Starre is a contributing writer for E/The Environmental Magazine, the nation's oldest independent environmental publication, and a dining columnist for The Fairfield County Weekly, where she also regularly writes about commuting, transportation, and alternative energy. Starre has also been published online at Alternet.org, Worldchanging, The Daily Green, The Huffington Post, and jewschool.com. In print, her work can be seen in Audubon Magazine, where she is the columnist for "Green Guru"; Elle South Africa; The Berkeley Daily Planet; The Honolulu Weekly; Friends of Animals' member magazine, ActionLine, and others. She is excited to have been an associate producer for the Discovery Channel's upcoming environmental mini-series, Final Hour.

A world traveler, vegetarian, artist, and animal lover, Starre loves snowboarding, reading, arguing and being crafty. She lives the green lifestyle every day and is constantly researching and using herself as a guinea pig for new green products for the home and body. She shares her home in coastal Connecticut with three rescued cats, and a crazy cocker spaniel.
