City Club is holding a three month long Community Matters Campaign to promote civic engagement and increase social capital. The campaign kicks off with United Way's Day of Caring volunteer event on Sept. 12 and continues with a series of educational events, facilitated community dialogues, and community brainstorming about solutions. Events continue up to Election Day, Nov. 4. At the end of the campaign, City Club will award micro-grants to community organizations and report back to the community on lessons learned in the Campaign.
As part of the Campaign, City Club is hosting two public forums and two candidate debates in October. The first public forum will feature a panel of public health and ethics experts to discuss immunization and the second will feature a panel of leading educators on the challenge of training for global competitiveness and collaboration. A series of up to 50 community dialogues will happen throughout the three month campaign. A current list of dialogues is available here. City Club is still looking for groups to host additional dialogues. Check City Club's dialogues page for more information.
